While waiting for my car's oil change, I did nothing productive. I could have spent the time reading, writing, listening to an audiobook, or even taking a walk. But I didn't. Shame on me.

Instead, I enjoyed watching a couple as they waited. They talked. They laughed.

It made me realize that waiting with someone can be better than waiting alone.

But then again, waiting alone can also be better than waiting with someone else. It's similar to eating alone versus eating with someone, or going to the movies alone versus going with someone else.

Personally, I can do either. I enjoy both.

It's a reminder that life offers us choices, and sometimes the best choice is simply the one we make in the moment.
