I Don't Like What I See in the Mirror
I'm just being honest with you. When I look in the mirror at times, I shake my head.
Here are a few things I shake my head about:
- The inconsistency in the "right things" like exercise, eating, etc.
- The inability to the husband I believe God wants me to be.
- Not spending enough quality time with my children.
- Relationships that I fall short in.
- My body. Yes, men struggle here too when honest.
- And I could add more.
While driving the other day, I was thinking about the things I don't like about myself when I look in the mirror. I just made a mental run down of the list above.
Then I started laughing. Inside. Not out loud like I'm crazy.
I started laughing because I begin to realize that the things I don't like about myself don't stop me from living out a life of joy, peace, gentleness, kindness and forgiveness.
Because here is the cool thing. The guy I don't like in mirror, God loves. And with His grace, He shows me how to love myself. And love is patient, kind, always hope, always perseveres, not proud, not easily angered...
Even cooler is God encourages me to LOVE OTHERS just like I love myself.
I'm big time glad I'm patient with the GUY in the mirror.
God loves you.
