Managing How I Use This Word
This is just something that I have been thinking about over the last 48 hours. That is how I use the word "LOVE" and I'm thinking I want to start managing how I use it differently.
In other words, I will stop using it to describe how I feel about things that have no real meaning to me.
Example: I love that car. Or, I love those pants. Etc.
In my house, we try to be over cautious on the words we use and how we use them. However, I haven't been doing as well with correcting my children on this.
Example: We don't use the word "DANG" in my house.
Not because I think the word is horrible or anything but I want my children to be super aware of the words they're using.
We don't use the word "stupid" or "dumb" either.
So, I want to start managing how I use the word "LOVE" because I use it often on things that I really don't love. I like it. But don't love it. I may even enjoy it but I don't love it.
God "LOVES" us. I love my wife. I love my children. I love my family. I love my friends. I love you.
And a pair of pants or car or house or whatever can't compare to my wife or children or family or friends or you.
I doubt Jesus would die for a pair of pants.
I think the big picture for me is that when I tell someone I "LOVE" them I want it to be taken seriously. More so for me than them.
