The power of ACCEPTING others
I once was awarded Citizen of the Year in my awesome town GuthrieAmerica. It was a pretty cool moment.
That night after I won I started thinking about WHY people would consider me for this award.
I went back to my definition for Go Win which is being consistent in the “right things” that allow for you to achieve the wins you want for your life so that you can live out your greatest story.
There were 7 “right things” that I came up with on this night.
But I want to talk about one… This one “right thing” I believe I work to be consistent at which I believe points to a citizen of the year.
I believe because of God’s grace I have been able to ACCEPT everyone. It doesn’t matter of your ethnicity, where you live, your education, rich or poor or between, etc…
I accept you.
How I speak to accepting you:
I speak to you in public.
I invite you over for dinner.
I serve you when needed.
I try to use my gifts & talents to impact the entire community and not just a portion of it.
I listen to you without holding it against you if it doesn’t line up with my thinking.
….
It may not mean that I accept your lifestyle or your decisions, but I accept you as a person.
My heart wants us all to accept one another. The world would be such a better place.
What does it look like to accept others in your life?
Thank you for reading today.
I’m writing this on my laptop this morning in my studio.
P.S. Accepting someone as a person doesn’t mean you always agree with them.
