Photographers share "right things" to be consistent in to achieve the win of being a greater photographer

Here is the thing.

I want to share “right things” to be consistent in around something different every week. This week is photography.

These are “right things” that will allow for you to achieve the win of becoming a better, in this case, a photographer.

I asked photographers on social media what they thought was one “right thing” that you need to be consistent in to be a great photographer. You can check them out below.

I would say take 30 days trying to implement these suggestions. Also, go check out these photographers on their instagram accounts.

Keep your files organized - it’s a slippery slope if you don’t stay on top of it 😅

Heady!!!! 😂 I just love taking photos with my phone. I like to look at the subject or object as, I want it to tell a story.

Always take photos. No matter what don’t stop shooting, it helps you see things better. I see shots in my head before taking them, but i’m always shooting, even if its with my phone and not my rig.

And lighting lighting if you don’t get your lighting right your pictures crap so you have to know the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection

A “right thing” that I’ve been consistent in when it comes to photography is going above and beyond the expectations of my clients or any individual I get to film/photograph.

I believe photographers and truly any business that puts $$ above providing true value to the customer is not going to succeed, or in the terms of this post, be the best.

Going above and beyond expectations is seen in things such as sticking around for extra amount of time beyond what was agreed upon in case an event is not running according to time. Guys it may just be me, but unless you literally have to be somewhere else at a specific time, stay with your client and make them feel cared for; which should be your objective from the beginning. Plus, you’ll not only increase your portfolio shots but be appreciated greatly by those you are serving.

Going beyond expectations is surprising a person or family with a small 8x11 print or a small canvas.

Going beyond expectation is reaching out to your client on their anniversary and just saying hello and thank you for the opportunity they gave you the year before.. which also gives you a chance to yearly showcase your work of their portraits or event on your social media pages.

Going beyond expectations is also helping those who are new photography improve and move forward. Take time to bring someone along to a shoot and share your experience and knowledge with them.

I can keep going on here but I think you get my point. Be consistent in going above and beyond, I promise it will help your photography journey!

And for those who just do it as a hobby, shoot as much as possible. Also film/photograph things of your interest! You’ll find to love photography even more!

Shoot Your Passion and Try to be intentional about the photos you take. Meaning just because your camera can shoot 10 frames a sec, doesn’t mean you have to. Study your environment and Study you subject and learn when is the right time to open that shutter.

I try to always have a camera with me, not just my cell phone. Practice makes pictures.
