Change could start with dinner
With everything going on right now and people looking for ways to start making change with racism, go invite some people who don’t look like you, live like you, dance like you, eat the same foods as you, live in the same hood as you, etc over for dinner.
It would be awesome if they also had kids your age so they can start building relationships. They will see mom and dad connecting with people that don’t have the same shade of skin, texture of hair, etc.
I think these things matter.
When was the last time you connected with someone who didn’t look like you? Engaged in deep conversation, laughed out loud together, shared childhood stories, ideas, how you may differ culturally, etc in your home at your dinner table, on your couch?
It could start with dinner, not a one and done but weekly, maybe monthly, let’s try quarterly. Our kids need to see this and that it’s done sincerely and in LOVE.
When will you schedule your first dinner?
