What are your names?

Elijah and Savannah Morris

Where were you born?

Savannah - I was born in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Elijah - I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas.

When did you move to Guthrie?

Savannah - I moved to Guthrie the day they released my momma from the hospital!

Elijah - I moved to Guthrie when I was 4.

Why did you move to Guthrie?

Savannah - I never really moved to Guthrie. It has always been my home from the very beginning.

Elijah - My family moved to Guthrie because my Dad was going to pastor a church.

What’s your favorite Guthrie related memory?

Savannah - My favorite Guthrie related memory, other than getting married to my sweet honey in the old Rock Island Depot on April 16, 2016, is always being involved in the 89er parade. My Pop (Hollie Chappell) never failed to enter a float in the parade! We would practice down in his garage singing Yankee Doodle Dandy and every other old patriotic song.

He always believed in me!

Elijah - My favorite Guthrie related memory is definitely the 89er parade.

What’s the best part of living in Guthrie?

Savannah - For me, the best part of living in Guthrie is family. They are ALL here!

Elijah - The best part of living in Guthrie is the small town feel where everybody knows everybody. It never fails that you're going to run into someone you know.

What does Guthrie have that other towns don’t?

Savannah - What Guthrie has that other towns don’t have is Hoboken Coffee Roasters!

Elijah - Something that Guthrie has that I don’t think any other towns has is the amount of people pushing for their community. It’s so nice seeing people really taking pride in their community.

Are you a GHS Alumni?

Savannah- Yes, I am a Guthrie Alumni Class of 2011!!! I was not involved in much…. sadly!

Elijah - No, I am not a Guthrie Alumni. I was homeschooled.

If you lived here at some point and moved back why?

Savannah- I haven’t left Guthrie yet, and I have no intentions of leaving at least for a long period of time. Guthrie is my HOME!

Elijah - I haven’t lived anywhere else.

Where do you currently work and how long?

As of March 1, 2017, we are proud business owners of Honey Homes LLC! Our business consist of flipping and renovating houses in the Guthrie community. You can follow our progress and current renovations on Instagram @honeycanhammer.

I (Savannah) also have been working at Hoboken Coffee Roasters for the past 3 years.

If you grew up in Guthrie and had your first job here… Where?

Savannah - My first job was at Missy’s Bakery. Those hot doughnuts, talk about a tempting job!

Elijah - I worked for my dad. He had a construction business. I eventually took it over.

Do you have family here?

Savannah - Yes, my entire family! Extended (Chappell family) and now my new family the Morris’ clan.

Elijah - Yes, my parents still reside here in Guthrie and 7 of my siblings are still here. I am one of thirteen kids.

How did you first hear or learn about the Guthrie America brand?

Savannah - I first learned about the GA brand through Instagram.

Elijah - I first heard of the Guthrie America brand from Heady.

What do you think about the GA brand?

Savannah - I think the GA brand is a great product that binds and promotes the City of Guthrie!

Elijah - I think GA is a great community building organization.

Why do you wear GuthrieAmerica tee?

Savannah - I wear the GA tee because I am a proud citizen of GuthrieAmerica!

Elijah- I wear the GA tee because I love Guthrie!

What are you favorite things to do in Guthrie?

Our favorite things to do in Guthrie together are sip coffee at Hoboken, visit the antique stores, and catch good Friday night football games. 

Anything significant about your life you would like to share?

Savannah - My family has been here for generations now starting with my great great great grandparents Eli and Mary.

What’s the latest project you have been working on in Guthrie?

Our latest projects are renovating a 1911 and a 1930 home near downtown Guthrie. 

Lastly, we love Shout Outs! Who do you want to give a shout out to?

Shout out! Joe Chappell - my uncle (Savannah), owner of Golden Age Nursing Home, Board Member of Neighborhood Solutions, constantly improving and making Guthrie beautiful. Aren’t those American flags lining our streets great? Yep, he did that!
